As green cover around Karnal has shrunk, monkey troops that once lived in forest patches have been pushed steadily into residential streets, highways and rooftops — with no reliable access to food and constant conflict with people. Anjani Animals Foundation was started by Pawan Sharma to address both sides of that problem directly.
The foundation now operates on two fronts: a daily feeding programme that reaches fixed points across the city before troops are forced to forage in unsafe areas, and a shelter construction programme that is building enclosed, tree-covered sites where displaced troops can live away from traffic and human conflict.
The work is deliberately unglamorous — steel bowls, fruit crates, roofing sheets and daily rounds — and every rupee raised is applied directly to feeding or shelter material.

Daily Feeding Programme
Fixed feeding points across Karnal are stocked every morning and evening — before troops are forced to search rooftops, kitchens and highways for food.
